One of my friends asked „Why do you pay so much money for Maggie to play ice hockey?“ Well I have a confession to make, I don’t pay for her hockey. Although I enjoy hockey and watching her skate that is not the point.So, if I am not paying for hockey- what am I paying for?

– I pay for those moments when my daughter was so tired she wanted to quit but hasn’t. 

– I pay for those days when Maggie came home from school and was „too tired“ to go the rink but went anyway. 

– I pay for my daughter to learn to be disciplined. 

– I pay for Maggie to learn to take care of her body. 

– I pay for my daughter to learn to work with others and to be good team mates. 

– I pay for Maggie to learn to deal with disappointment, when she doesn’t get that score or position or ice time she hoped for, but still worked hard. 

– I pay for my girl to learn to make and accomplish goals. 

– I pay for my daughter to learn that it takes hours and hours and hours and hours of hard work and practice to create a champion, and that success does not happen overnight. 

– I pay for the opportunity my daughter has had and will have to make life-long friendships. 

– I pay so that my girl can be in the arena instead of in front of a screen…

…I could go on but, to be short, I don’t pay for hockey, I pay for the opportunities that hockey continues to provide my daughter to develop attributes that will serve her well throughout her life and give her the opportunity to bless the lives of others. From what I have seen so far I think it is a great investment
